Common Failure of Hard Drives and How To Get Rid of It

Hard drive is one of the most important hardware used in computers. Starting with the operating system, it holds important information stored on the computer. So, hard drive failure or damage is all in all a frustrating experience. Losing the ability to read data on a hard drive can make an entire computer unusable. How to get rid of it? Well, in this blog we will discuss details on it.

Common failures of hard drives

One of the most common failures of hard drives is 'Head crash'. In a head crash, the drive of a hard drive sticks to the platter of the head disk. This means that the drive head collides with the platter. And if that is the case then the magnetic media of Dix is removed from the platter due to the drive head and because of this it gets damaged.

Another common failure is the 'Bad sector'. No data can be stored in the bad sector area of a hard drive and if there is any data before it becomes a bad sector it is lost. This problem is due to the magnetic media of the hard drive. Bad sectors arise when a computer cannot read / write data from a disk's magnetic media to a specific sector of the disk.

Hard drive platters made of glass have the potential to break due to excess electrical heat. And when the platter breaks, the hard drive's magnetic data read and write activity is disrupted and the entire hard drive is damaged as a result.

In the developed world, computers are usually housed in air-conditioned rooms, and since those countries are cold countries, platters were made of glass. However, currently hard drive manufacturers are making platters with other materials.

If there is an electrical problem on the logic board of your hard drive then certain or all of the data on the drive can be ‘unreadable’ or often damaged. This problem occurs when the logic board cannot communicate properly between the computer system and the hard drive.

What to do if hard drive fails

There is no 100% right solution to prevent hard drive failure. This is a guarantee that electrical things will be damaged. While we may not be able to prevent hard drive failure, we can take some precautions to keep the data backed up. Let’s check a few precautionary things of it:

  1. Back up some of the important data. And if possible, you can back up the data to the cloud system, even if the hard drive is damaged, you can download the data from the cloud later via the Internet.

  2. When upgrading a PC or buying a new PC, buy the best quality hard drive of the best brand. Technology is constantly being upgraded and the upgraded items will be a little more expensive than the old ones. If possible, upgrade the PC directly to Solid State Drive.

  1. You can use a portable hard drive. Portable hard drives are much less likely to fail than a normal hard drive. Portable hard drives are equipped with advanced technology so they are relatively less wasted.

  1. There are several steps we can take to keep our hard drive healthy. The most important of these is to prevent the hard drive from being an extra hit. Use a high quality cooling system to keep the hard drive from getting hot when using and if possible use a computer in an air-conditioned room.

  1. Be a little careful when using the hard drive when the warranty period is over; Do not do more than one thing at a time (such as copying a large file and continuing to do other work in the background) and if possible buy a new hard drive when the warranty period is over.

From the above discussion we came to a conclusion that prevention is better than cure to avoid hard disk crash. You can scan the disk once a week to be secured. It is best to scan one day a month using Norton System Work Repair software. You can copy the hard disk to the hard disk by setting the hard disk parallel to the casing. And also make sure that dirt does not accumulate on the hard disk.
